The Internet is, like it or not, now a fundamental part of everyday life in the UK with 73% of households having broadband at their finger tips. Consumer e-commerce online is estimated to be around 50 billion, a massive rize from 2001 where it was only 2 billion. The measurable size of the United Kindgom's Internet economy in 2009 was £100 billion which is roughly 7.2 of GDP and is growing at 10% a year. This share is larger than that of the country's construction, transportation or utlilties industry highlighted below.
