UK IT security spending tops £3 Billion a yearWith the increasing use of mobile devices and growing threat of cyber crime, the UK is now spending more and more on protection leading to figures recently being published of £3 billion pounds every year. Security levels are growing 10% year on year and the entire market it estimated to be at $60 billion. In the first half of 2011 there were around 40 deals accounting for over $10bn in value, a 70% increase on the full year for 2010. Some of the big deals in the security space over the last couple of years include Intel's $7.8bn deal for McAfee, Dell's $612m acquisition of Secureworks, HP's $1.6bn deal for ArcSight and Symantec's $1.2bn acquisition of VeriSign.
